FREE MUSEUM PASSES

The Library now has family museum passes for short-term borrowing. Passes are available for the Katonah Museum of Art, the Museum of Natural History in NYC, the Neuberger Museum of Art in Purchase, and the Aldrich Museum in Ridgefield, Connecticut. The free passes will admit a family of two adults and up to four children to these museums. Some restrictions apply. Passes may be borrowed for four days, and must be reserved in advance by calling the library at 763-3857. These passes are only available to Lewisboro Library patrons. The pass to the Museum of Natural History is made possible by the generosity of the family of Vi Nguyen and Howard Lee. The other museum passes were donated by the museums. Please contact the library if you are interested in sponsoring a pass to a new museum to help expand our program.

FISHING EQUIPMENT LENDING PROGRAM

Thanks to the generosity of the Sportsmen’s Club of Northern Westchester, the Library now has fishing poles and tackle boxes to loan out to library patrons! Patrons may sign out the equipment for up to one week. Please note that fishing licenses are required for those over the age of 16, and may be obtained at the Town Clerk’s office. Watershed permits are required for fishing in local reservoirs; applications for permits may also be picked up at the Town Clerk’s office. The phone number for the Town Clerk is 763-3511. Internet for Beginners

The Library offers a free one-hour Internet workshop on Friday mornings, by appointment only. A staff librarian will guide you through a basic search and show you some interesting sites. Please call the library to register.

BOOK REACH PROGRAM

The Library’s Book Reach program has volunteers ready to deliver and pick-up materials for our patrons who are home-bound. Simply let us know what kinds of materials you want and subjects and authors you are interested in. Call Sue Hamilton at the Library to inquire about the program 763-3857.

JOB INFORMATION CENTER

The library is a wonderful starting place for those seeking employment. Whether looking for a job in your current field or thinking about a career change, our Job Information Center has a number of books on resume writing, interviewing, and test preparation. The internet is a great search tool for job seekers. You can post your resume, view job postings on commercial job boards, research industries and companies, apply directly to a company online, obtain job search advice, and network with peers in association discussion forums. To help with online research, we have six computer terminals available to the public, as well as a wireless network for those who prefer to bring their own laptops.

In addition to our resources, the Westchester Library System has a link on their website to the WLS Career and Educational Counseling service. This service runs specialized programs with trained professionals to guide you in your career path. These 8-week development seminars help you evaluate your skills, learn how to use online career information, explore career alternatives, and find out about educational/training programs in Westchester. Help for the College-Bound

The Library has several new books to help patrons with their college searches in the areas of: testing for admissions, writing the college essay and application, the college interview, financial aid and how to thrive once you arrive. These books are located in our Job Information Center.
