LIBRARY NEWS:
Library Name
Change
The South Salem Library board of
trustees and the New York State Board of Regents have approved a name change
for the library from “South Salem Library” to “Lewisboro Library.” The new name more accurately reflects the
library’s mission to serve the entire town of Lewisboro including Cross River,
Goldens Bridge, Lewisboro, South Salem, Vista and Waccabuc. The Library is chartered by the state
to serve all of Lewisboro, and all residents contribute their tax dollars to
support the building and its services. The name change will be implemented over
the next two months. You will begin seeing it used in library correspondence
and promotional material. Current patrons may continue to use their South Salem
Library card. New patrons will be issued a Lewisboro Library card. This change
will not affect any materials you have checked out or placed on hold at the
South Salem Library. However, when placing new holds, please remember to choose
Lewisboro Library as your pick up location.
Library Email Newsletter
The Library has a monthly email newsletter to keep patrons informed of upcoming programs. To sign up for the service, send an email to southsalemlibrary@gmail.com.
Have You Tried the Playaway?
Playaway is the newest format of
audiobooks – a preloaded digital audio player.
It combines complete individual titles with an easy-to-use player - all
in one small unit. Simply press play to start listening immediately – there is
no need for a separate player. You may
use your own headphones, or purchase a set of earbuds from the library for $2.
The loan period is three weeks. The
Playaway can be renewed once for an additional three weeks if no holds are
placed on the title. The overdue fee is
20˘ per day.
Wireless
Internet Access
Wireless Internet access is now available at the South Salem Library. We invite you to explore our high-speed Internet access using your own wireless-enabled laptop or pda. In order to connect, your computer must have a WiFi-compatible network card installed (802.11b or 802.11g). We also recommend a charged battery, as electrical outlets are limited. Wireless users agree to abide by the library policy on wireless use of the Internet. A copy of this policy can be found at the Circulation Desk. For detailed information, please refer to the Wireless Configuration Information sheet available at the Circulation Desk.
